Showcasing community-research partnerships: Building bridges at the Guildhall

This week, the Guildhall in Derry/Londonderry played host to an inspiring gathering of minds and ideas as the Community Research Collective showcased some of the incredible projects supported by The Ideas Fund. The event celebrated the power of collaboration between academic research and community action, highlighting innovative approaches to tackling local challenges.

Our CEO, Edel, was honoured to represent Developing Healthy Communities at this event, reflecting on the potential for meaningful partnerships to create lasting impact.

A Platform for Innovation and Collaboration

The Ideas Fund has been a driving force in fostering community-research partnerships, encouraging local organisations and researchers to come together to address pressing issues. The projects showcased at the Guildhall emphasised the creativity and commitment of both sectors, with each initiative offering fresh perspectives on how to support health and well-being in innovative ways.

Representatives from organisations such as the North-West Community Network and Ulster University shared their insights, inspiring discussions on how to sustain and expand these collaborations. Attendees explored how academic research can be more deeply rooted in community needs, ensuring that the outcomes are not only impactful but also relevant and accessible.

Looking Ahead

As the event concluded, there was a strong sense of optimism about what lies ahead. Participants discussed plans to strengthen existing partnerships and explore new opportunities for collaboration, with a shared commitment to fostering innovation and resilience across the region.

Acknowledging Community Champions

We extend our gratitude to the Community Research Collective and The Ideas Fund for organising such an inspiring event. These partnerships exemplify what can be accomplished when diverse perspectives come together with a shared vision for progress.

As we move forward, Developing Healthy Communities remains committed to playing an active role in fostering these connections and turning innovative ideas into impactful action. Together, we can continue to build a healthier, more connected community for everyone.
